Repairing a 1978 MXR flanger.   These pedals are really cool- I dated the pots to 1978, and repaired the ORIGINAL a/c cord, which had been ripped out of the unit at some point in its life.    The repair involved removing the old hard-soldered power cable and re-doing the connections.   The cable lost an inch of length, but the unit is still all original.   The repair job is the bright silver solder in the top right of the box.   Look closely and you can see the third wire- the ground, that uses a screw! Old School!

Here’s another fun one.   This Daisy Rock (I know- but they actually do sound pretty good and are made well- Paul Leary uses ‘em!) came in in two pieces- seems someone’s nephew thought they were Pete Townshend.   A little Dremeling, some fine sanding and some epoxy later, it’s like new.

This is an Alvarez that needed its nut re-glued and cut, the fingerboard needed a little love, and the tuning machines needed screws- they were falling off.   More pics soon!

This is a custom bridge for A Les Paul Jr. (which also has a custom pickup- see that big honkin PAF?!) Les Paul Jrs. came originally in the ’50s with an angled wrap-around tail piece- the same that forms the back end of a tune-o-matic.   The problem is, they don’t stay in tune very well and leave little to no room for adjusting intonation.   The modern Gibson and epiphone versions address this with a cheap saddle bridge and two screws.   However, I wanted this bridge to look period correct- no saddles and hidden screws.   Simply drill and tap a gibson stop-piece, and viola!  This modification can also be done to tune-o-matic equipped axes too, increasing your fine tuning ability!

A beautiful, all-original 1972 Les Paul Standard. Nothing too fancy here, just a basic setup in about 45 minutes.   Fast Action Baby!

This one was fun… A 1965 Silvertone straight from the pages of Sears and Roebuck.   The fretboard was separating at the nut- I replaced and re-glued it and then replaced the nut (cut it better than the original- it stays in tune now!) tightened up the tuning machines, setup the bridge properly (note that funky wrap around trapeze tail piece) and gave it a little TLC.   THis one had a pretty decent tone for a forty something year old 20.oo $ guitar.

This one’s a Ibanez that had been smashed to hell.   It’s still being glued back together, but stay tuned for more pics as I work on the project.   I’m thinking a natural finish…
